"White, gold, and mirrors will be the main attraction in 2020."
The walls no longer have to be empty; they'll now be a blank canvas where you can let your imagination run wild until you achieve the design you desire.
“Until a few years ago, keeping the walls of your home blank or with a couple of pictures was fashionable, as it demonstrated organization and minimalism. However, interior design trends are changing radically, and in 2020, painted walls as works of art, adding golden lines, and even some accessories are all the rage,” Mónica Saravia said.
Forget about walls that couldn't be modified and let your creativity take over this part of your home. Express your personality on the largest walls that are most visible to visitors. From red roses to a group of flowers in a muted tone, anything goes.
In interior design, trends pass quickly, others remain current, and others gain momentum. While many ideas and concepts exist, simplicity, good taste, and delicacy will prevail. The color that never goes out of style will be a trend again in 2020. Black is on many designers' favorites. Using black cabinets with different finishes will enhance the appearance of the kitchen, making it look luxurious.
The colors chosen for the home, both for the walls and the furniture, are key to its decoration. Shades can not only evoke sensations and emotions, but also influence the identity of the spaces. They are also responsible for giving a touch of spaciousness and modernity.
Designer Mónica Saravia asserts that pure white has lost its prominence, giving way to a mix of other shades such as gold, rosewood, and so on.
"There are different types of white that allow us to keep our home white and give it a feeling of spaciousness and warmth," she says. The trick to enhancing a space lies in the focal points, so she recommends covering some walls with wallpaper or using rugs as if they were paintings.
“The idea is that with textures we can achieve changes without much effort,” he explains.
Interior designer Mónica Saravia says that soft colors like gold, transparent, or some rose gold colors are also trending in furniture.
"My recommendation is always to use neutral-based furniture, allowing the colors of each season to be brought in through accessories," she says. In bedrooms, for example, furniture with neutral bases can be perfectly combined with accessories, such as comforters in various colors.
In living and dining rooms, cushions, rugs, lamps, paintings, and other decorative elements will accentuate the space.
Every year, interior design trends change and, in some ways, force a positive transformation in our homes. That's why, starting in December, decorators and designers have been showing the new path to having a fashionable home. Therefore, EL INFORMADOR spoke with Mónica Saravia, a renowned interior designer from Santa Marta. In this article, she shares the color trends for 2020, both for walls and furniture.
