Christmas at home has style

Colors like gold, red, and pink; green and Nordic Christmas trees; and small Nativity scenes are some of the recommendations for this holiday season.

Christmas isn't here yet, but... do you already know how you're going to decorate your home to welcome the New Year?

After taking the tree, lights, and Nativity scene out of storage, you're probably also wondering how to redecorate without your house looking the same as last year.

Take note, EL HERALDO consulted decoration experts to bring you the trends that will dominate this Christmas.

Decorating expert Mónica Saravia says metallic tones are making a strong comeback. "Mixing gold with pink tones creates the illusion of a rose gold Christmas, which will undoubtedly dominate this final month."

Saravia adds that at Christmas, the concept of "more is more" prevails. "Normally, the rule in interior design tells you that less is more, but this time of year, that rule is broken. We try to decorate every space in the house to truly capture the Christmas spirit. Priority is always given to the tree because it's the focal point of each home, and the idea is for each one to be personalized to the taste of the person who lives there. Therefore, there are no rules for this season. It's about following the trend without straying from your personal style."

Saravia advises that it's essential to emphasize the entryway—a decoration typically placed at the front door of a home—because it's where guests are welcomed. Dressing up every corner of the house is great, but dressing the table is crucial, as it's the focal point.

To decorate our home table, designers recommend doing so with 'small details along the entire table'.

Combinations. Although experts say Christmas will revolve around the golden hue, you need to know how to combine it.

For Mónica Saravia, 'this year, pastel tones dominate, keeping in mind that the central tone is gold, since that color is strong and should be balanced with lower tones.'

The Tree

This is the key element in every home when it comes to dressing up for Christmas. It's the piece that defines the entire home decor and gives that festive, family-friendly touch to the season.

Mónica Saravia believes that this year there is a marked trend toward Nordic trees, that is, those that are white or that allude to snow-covered pines.

'There's a distinct Nordic style that many people love, but that's a matter of taste. The green tree will never go out of style, and the important thing in decor is that it makes us feel identified with it. Yes, it's important that it looks sensational for our guests, but ultimately, it's our home, and we should feel comfortable in it.'
