Lourdes is a city I've wanted to visit for a long time. Located in France, it's a frequent pilgrimage site. The Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette 18 times in 1859.
Recharging the soul to continue is often necessary. During these days of rejoicing, I had the privilege of experiencing extraordinary things, such as attending the torchlight procession, collecting holy water from the grotto, attending the rosary and Mass at the site of the apparitions, and visiting the basilicas, among others.
I share with you some of the teachings of Saint Bernadette:
- Seek only to please God and the Virgin Mary
- Learning to wait for God's timing.
- Live simply.
- The greatest experience comes from what is given with love.
- Embrace life and accept it with love. The Virgin Mary told him, "I'm not going to make you happy in this life, but I will in the next."
- Pray a lot to the Virgin.
With a happy heart, I also wandered the narrow streets of this Pyrenean city, delving into its many souvenir shops and tasting its cuisine. Nothing is ever the same, but it's always a blessing to be able to visit, connect, and recharge in a special place of worship.
