Clean and disinfect like an expert!

Many of us know how to clean and dust every nook and cranny in our homes. We've learned through example and observation how to make good use of brooms, mops, and other utensils. But this time, when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused an unprecedented crisis in all areas, requires greater effort, knowledge, precision, and care. Here are six pro-level tips to learn how to clean and disinfect like an expert and thus keep our homes healthier:
- Cleaning and disinfecting are not the same thing. According to Medline, cleaning removes dirt, dust, crumbs, and germs from surfaces or objects; it doesn't necessarily kill germs. Disinfecting, on the other hand, means reducing the number of germs to a safe level using disinfecting chemicals. Therefore, we should clean first and disinfect second to kill as many germs as possible.
- Read the instructions on all cleaning products before using them and save yourself a headache. The label will provide you with all the information you need for proper use, so be sure to follow them, especially if you're going above and beyond.
- Clean and disinfect all surfaces you come into contact with daily. Pay special attention to things you touch a lot, like doorknobs, remote controls, light switches, and of course, your cell phone.
- Make sure your disinfectants contain at least 70% alcohol and are not expired. If you're using bleach, remember to mix it with water only.
- When it comes to household linens, towels, and comforters, follow the instructions and use the right products. I do the entire process in my LG AI front-loading washer and dryer. Don't forget to clean and disinfect the basket!
- Preventative isolation . If someone in the house is sick, keep them in one room and use one bathroom. Clean that space only when necessary. Be sure to wash any dishes or glasses with hot, soapy water immediately after use.
Now, ready to clean and disinfect like an expert.
