Il saloni di milano

I first attended the Salone del Mobile Milano in April 2017. For those unfamiliar, this is the world's leading event for the furniture and design sector.

I flew from Santa Marta to Madrid, with a stopover in Bogotá, then spent a few days in Russia and from there a 3-hour-20-minute flight to Milan. I landed at Milan-Malpensa Airport, located in the province of Varese, 35 km from Milan. It's the busiest and most important airport in Milan, and the second busiest in Italy. From there, I took a train to Milan and a dream week began.

Going to Milan and not attending the fair is like going to Orlando and not visiting Disney. Interior designers, architects, and designers from all over the world connect in this Italian city. Milan is the center of global design, the undisputed leader in trade shows. The Salone del Mobile is an unmissable event, the premier interior design fair. It covers 210,000 square meters that I had the privilege of exploring and enjoying for six days, entire buildings brimming with creativity and the latest industry trends.

If you're going to attend, I recommend planning ahead; the schedule can be overwhelming. So, to make the most of it, I booked my flights and tickets in advance through Booking.com . I stayed in a comfortable, quiet hotel close to the metro line, so I could easily get to the Rho Fair. I studied the fair map beforehand and chose the route for each day based on my priorities. I wore sneakers ; they're the best option for walking all day and enjoying every day.

At the end of each day, I savored the city. Milan has many options, but I decided on Italian food every day, delighting in pasta, carpaccio, prosciutto, pizza, ice cream, limoncello, and latte macchiato. I took other days to explore Milan beyond the fair, and I took the opportunity to explore Venice. Can I tell you more?
