How to choose your dining table?

Round, rectangular, or square? How big? How to choose a dining table that works for your space? Here are the answers:

There are so many shapes and sizes of dining tables. How do you choose your dining table? Which one is right for you? Liking it is important, of course, but making sure it fits your space and offers enough seating is even more critical.

Your table needs to take into account the number of diners you want to comfortably seat and still leave enough room to walk around it. The width of the top should be at least 90 centimeters. Typically, as the table length increases, so does the width of the surface. Here are some shapes and sizes to consider when choosing your dining table.

Measure the space designated for the dining room. To allow diners to sit and stand up easily, you'll need 0.8 to 1.2 meters between the table and the wall. If there is furniture in the space, measure from the furniture to the table. Visualize the space it will occupy.

Don't overload your table. Each person needs about 60 centimeters to eat comfortably. Of course, if your table allows it, break this rule for occasional gatherings.

Round tables are perfect for small spaces. They don't have corners to collide with, and you can accommodate a larger number of diners. Adding a glass top to showcase a beautiful base will make the space feel more spacious. If you choose a large round table, consider adding a swivel base in the center, as it will be difficult for guests to reach the food.

A rectangular table works well in a long, narrow space. It allows more room for traffic flow. As the table length increases, the tabletops should increase in width. If you're looking to take up less space, consider adding a bench instead of chairs on one side of your table. Make sure you can push the bench under the table so it can be hidden when not in use.

A square table will be ideal if your space is square. Everyone sits at the same distance from each other, making this type of table really convenient. Like round tables, a large table will make it difficult to reach food. Consider adding a swivel base.
