Tidying up like Marie Kondo

Time to tidy up our homes! One effort at a time will make everything easier; in the end, our homes will be tidy and we'll be happy. "Organization begins with elimination," says Japanese tidying guru Marie Kondo .

The secret to the success of her KonMari method is to start organizing by throwing away everything you don't need or don't make you happy. For her, organizing is simply deciding whether or not to throw away an item and deciding where you're going to store it. Today I challenge you to organize like Marie Kondo:

Day 1 Let's start with clothes!

According to the famous KonMarie method, this is the easiest step. Marie says we should keep only what we wear, what looks good on us, and what makes us happy.

Okay? If the answer is yes, then get to work. Go through your clothes one by one and keep only what you really love. Then fold everything vertically, including socks, and hang only what needs to be hung, like delicate shirts.

Maximize space, avoid wrinkles, and have everything ready to use.

Day 2 It's time to study!

Same premise when decluttering: stick with what you truly love. Let's start with books. Marie recommends a maximum of 30 books, and do you agree?

We continue with the paperwork. The recommendation is simple: only those that are strictly necessary and current, then file them in folders.

Day 3 Time for miscellaneous objects!

Include photos, makeup, sewing… For Marie Kondo, these objects hold a strong sentimental value, and are the hardest to organize. Again, keep only those that "touch your heart." How about starting with photos?

Finding a place for everything can change your life. Organizing restores balance between people, their possessions, their home, and tidies up your life, says Marie Kondo. I agree, and you?

If you want to learn more about Marie Kondo, I recommend purchasing her book The Magic of Tidying Up on Amazon and getting the popcorn ready to watch her series Tidying Up with Marie! on Netflix.
